Meet Dexter, aka The Pain Dog. The initial inspiration for the name came from my excellent team of nurses and medical assistants, who suggested Dex (for Dexamethasone) as it’s one of the most common steroids I like to use in my procedures! I liked the idea, but figured Dexter would be a more fitting name for a grown up German Shepherd, with Dex as his nickname. Dexter has grown to be an essential part of our team, and he shares a special bond with my amazing lead nurse Liz, his favorite person on the planet. He is also loved by my patients, who routinely request his presence in the suite in advance of their follow-up appointments. He is almost 3 years old now, and 80 lbs. Don’t be fooled: he might look like a German shepherd on the outside, but he’s definitely more of a golden retriever on the inside!
